COVID Passes
From 12 May, venues and events will no longer be able to request NHS Covid Passes as a condition of entry as they will no longer be available. However, the NHS Covid Pass for international travel will continue to be available as normal.
New Report on Cultural Sector
DCMS has published a report looking at how fragmented data from UK cultural organisations could be joined up. Not surprisingly, their main finding was that data is often inaccessible and incomplete, making it difficult to assess its value, particularly for subsectors. The key recommendation is to build a cultural sector data platform which takes existing data feeds as its start point. See here
Good News for Events Sector Haulage Firms
The Government has agreed to introduce dual registration to help specialist events hauliers who undertake journeys between the UK and the EU. This means that hauliers will be able to have their vehicles exempted from paying Vehicle Excise Duty when operating on their GB operator licence in the UK; undertake journeys in the UK using their GB operator licence and in another location using the operator licence for that other location; and complete their journey or journeys without changing vehicles or having journeys limited by market access restrictions on international movements. HSE Alert re. Mast Climbing Work Platforms (MCWPs).
The HSE has issued an alert regarding potential undetected mechanical failure in drive units which could lead to the uncontrolled fall of the platform. It includes advice on detection and prevention of potential failure where MCWPs rely on two drive units per mast as the means to ensure safety. MCWPs are used widely across construction projects and in other industries. View the safety alert for full details
Cultural Development Fund
The third round of the Cultural Development Fund will open for expressions of interest on Grantium at 9am on Monday 6 June 2022.
