Blackout provided extensive draping for this year’s star studded National Television Awards (NTAs)blackout_NTA held at the O2 Arena, 22nd January 2014. Broadcast live on ITV1 and hosted by Dermot O’Leary, the glittering ceremony saw TV’s biggest stars out in force for the 19th annual event. The evening saw Coronation Street steal the show, taking home the serial Drama Award and Geordie duo Ant and Dec triumphed, picking up a handful of gongs, including the Entertainment Presenter Award for the 13th consecutive year. Contracted by NTA producers Indigo Television, Blackout installed black wool serge drapes 82 metres wide with an 18 metre drop, to create the desired effect for the TV broadcast. The drapes were shaped around the large 19m by 9.5m screen, which was the focal point of the show, with additional drapes used to mask off the arena to create the environment for the spectacular production.

Andy Cotton wins ‘Production Manager of the Year’ award PDF Print E-mail

Andy Cotton of TAO Productions was honoured with the Award of “Production Manager of the Year”andy_cotton at the recent 2014 TPI Awards Dinner. The award, sponsored by EFM Event Logistics and presented by Radio 6 presenter and Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman Huey Morgan, was presented following voting by the industry for international production manager of the year and was presented in front of over 1,000 global live production luminaries.

The 2014 TPI Awards Dinner, held at Novetel West, Hammersmith, London on Monday 10th February, recognises those who have achieved the very best in practices, standards and status in the World of Live Events and Productions. The award coincides with TAO Productions coming Runners Up in the “Best Production Team” category at The Event Production Awards 2014 at Earls Court 2 the following night. His award winning year has included working with Mumford and Sons at their Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers and Stampedes; The xx in Lisbon, Berlin and London on their ‘Night and Day’ festivals, and seven shows with Sir Cliff Richard outdoors at some of the UK’s most impressive country homes. 2013 also saw Andy Cotton contracted as Production Manager for The Eden Sessions which featured Sigur Ros, Jessie J, Eddie Izzard, Kaiser Chiefs, The xx and Nils Rogers and Chic. After a fantastic year in 2013, TAO Productions are also shortlisted for four awards at The NOEA Awards 2014 to be announced in March, “Event Organiser of the Year”; “Best Practice Award”; “Production Partnership Award” (With The xx) and with The Gentlemen of the Road Festival, Lewes, nominated for “Best Festival over 15,000”.

The North of England’s leading events, exhibition and conference venue has been reaccredited for ISO 20121 – the international standard for sustainability. It first was awarded the status in January 2013, following a year of sustainable measures that included reducing energy bills, recycling food waste and changing team behaviour.

HRH The Princess Royal has become Patron of the Royal Three Counties Show. Only last year, the Show was granted a prestigious Royal title – further endorsing its place as one of Britain’s top agricultural events. Organiser The Three Counties Agricultural Society, said it was thrilled with news of the patronage, which would help to strengthen the Royal connection, and give additional credence to its work to promote food, farming and rural enterprise.
